You have probably heard the saying, “Home is where the heart is.” For us, home is where the creative heart is—the creative heart of you and each member of your family. 

No matter the size and shape of your home, you can make it the creative heart of your family. Each place we live has its own challenges and opportunities for making a creative environment. The goal is to create an environment that stimulates and nurtures creativity, a place that is comfortable and rejuvenating.

Let’s explore the home environment by using the metaphor of the human environment: the body, the mind, and the spirit. Just as these are three aspects of the human person, so too are they part of the human’s home environment.

The body is the physical environment, the part of your home that can be experienced with the five senses. The mind of your home deals with the learning, thinking, and problem-solving opportunities that occur in the space. The spirit of your home is the connection you have with your family: the love, feelings of togetherness, fun, and enjoyment of life together inside the space.

Making your home a more creative environment is an excellent opportunity to engage in creative thinking as a family.
